Getting Started With Your New Website

So you've just received word that your new website is live and ready to go. You are excited to get started but are unsure of what the next step should be. Luckily, we've created a list of to-dos for you to make this process a little easier:

1. Review Your Website for Errors

Spend a few minutes browsing your website as if you were a visitor. This can help you catch small issues before they affect potential clients.

  • Check for spelling mistakes, typos, broken links, or outdated information.
  • Fill out the contact forms on your website to make sure they submit correctly.
  • Confirm that form notifications are being sent to the correct email address.
  • If you find something that needs attention, please contact IDXCentral Support.

2. Learning How to Use Your Website

If you're not already familiar with WordPress, we recommend reaching out to our support team. We're here to assist you in getting the most out of your site. You should have received links to some basic training videos, but if you have specific goals and need guidance, don't hesitate to contact our support team. We're here to help you make those changes.

Additionally, we offer a comprehensive How to Use WordPress Tutorial Series. You can access these videos in your WordPress Dashboard under Video Tutorials. These tutorials cover all the essentials of using WordPress.

3. Track Your Website Traffic

Learn how people are finding your website and what they are doing once they get there. Set up a free Google Analytics account. View our article on How to Set Up a Google Analytics Account.

4. Keep Visitors Coming Back

Your website works best when it’s part of your everyday marketing. Share it in emails, social media posts, text messages, listing presentations, and client conversations to keep people engaged with your brand — not third-party sites.

A new lead comes in? Send them to your “Why Work With Me” page. Talking with buyers about an area? Share your neighborhood profiles or local content. Preparing for a listing appointment? Direct sellers to examples of your marketing or past listings.

Regularly adding helpful, keyword-rich content also improves your visibility in search engines and gives visitors a reason to return. Need ideas? Check out our blog post on What to Write About.

5. WordPress Maintenance / Updates

We recommend updating WordPress and your plugins at least once a month to help keep your website secure, reliable, and running smoothly.

You can manage these updates yourself by following our Do-it-Yourself Maintenance guide. If you would rather have us handle it for you, IDXCentral offers managed WordPress maintenance plans that can include routine updates, basic site maintenance, and monitoring if your site goes down or appears to have a security issue.
